| Old Crow Removed - Work Weekend!!!! | February 18, 2010 @ 8:32am | Mike, Pete and I went out to the race property yesterday and started working on the long course trail. We have maybe 2 to 3 miles of trail ribboned.
There are of course no trails on this property so we are having to put in miles of virgin trail. Cutting in virgin trail is a LOT of work and takes a LOT of hours.
I am going out to the property Saturday to work all day. I may also get out there Sunday.
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!
Post here if you will be able to get out there.
The land is not next door, it's about 65 miles from my home in London. So lets make going out there a full day.
The land is gated and locked. Mike and I have keys.
If we are not able to get out there in one big group than we will need contact info so I can open the gate for late arrivals.
Mostly what is needed is real grunt work, cutting/trimming trail, moving rocks and logs from the trail. I'm asking all to bring all the trail tools you might have. There is a LOT of trimming needed. Did I say a LOT, I meant a WHOLE LOT.
SIGN UP Work Day(s) at Old Crow Removed (Rock Creek) Saturday Feb 20: Jim David Barclay Zach Gorman, Smith and Smith Mike Sebastian Barney?
Sunday Feb 21: Jim? Gorman, Smith, Smith Layne |

| February 19, 2010 @ 11:17am | Ok guys here is the deal for this weekend:
To help cover some of the travel expenses a club member incurs while working at the race site. The RVDRs will compensate each person $10.00 per round trip.
This benefit is not to cover all expenses but to supplement the expenses. A truck hauling 4 people would/could receive $40.00. That amount would be enough for fuel and maybe a light lunch for all 4. Each person in the truck could be eligible for a $10 reimbursement, not just the driver/owner of the truck. Rules:
1. The person must be on the race site and WORKING for at least 6 hours to be able to collect.
2. Payment will be mailed & not be made on site.
Jim Devereux is the lead dog for the work day and trails. Jim has the key to the gate and will make link up arrangements. He will also get names and addresses of those working. Jim's cell phone number is 479.857.0606
Every effort should be made to all meet at one time as the gate MUST remain locked except for entering or leaving the site.
There is good cell phone reception at the race site.

| February 19, 2010 @ 12:23pm | Thanks to the club for the financial aid.
Here's the plan for Saturday 2-19: Meet in Caulksville, junctions of Hwys 22 and 23, at 0900. I will lead the caravan to the property and open the gate.
The land owner wants us to keep the gate locked AT ALL TIMES, so free entry and exit is not possable to all.
Call me if we need to make other arangemeets to get you in/out of the gate.

| Work Day Saturday Feb 20 | February 21, 2010 @ 8:21am | We had a good work day Staurday and got quite a bit done. About a mile of trail is now trimmed and "the loop" is ribboned. We don't know how long the loop is, it needs to be trimed before we can get around it.
Kenneth, the land owner stopped by to talk with us as we were dragging butts back to the trucks to load up. He seems to be excited about this race and is interested in us getting a loop complete. He rode some of the trail on his ATV and thinks it's great. He's a good guy, it's nice working with him.
Here's who showed up: Jim Zach Sebastian Mike David Barclay Gorman Montana
All of us were pretty whooped after just one day of cutting brush and marking trail. Thanks to all of you.

| Work Day | February 21, 2010 @ 4:26pm | The $200.00 for fuel RV didn,t make it to Searcy. The RV is stuck in Layne's lawn and has issues with the new trans. The RV has a th400 trans and Montana can probably rebuild one of them. The guy who charged me $1200/1400 did no do a good job. the RV is out of water and oil. I borrowed Layne' Ply and enjoyed the good fuel mileage. I will use it to makes some money with the gas allowance. I agree, the Land Owner is a step above and a pleasure to visit with. Maybe I can get back up there and finish the triming. Good to see everyone and how about that work Montana did? |

| February 22, 2010 @ 6:52pm | Gorman, I don't think you met the requirement to receive the ten bucks. You have to have worked for a minimum of 6 hours.
But don't worry, I will gladly open my stimulus wallet and give you the 10 bucks. If for nothing else for just seeing you take the effort to get out there (and maybe a quart of synthetic tranny fluid).
It was good to see you, bring Montana back, he needs to finish trimming what he started.

| RV | February 23, 2010 @ 8:55am | The trusty rv put me to walking at Vilonia. Front Pump seal. The hillbillie who rebuilt it has cost me big. Jgas there is dirt trees vines grass creek hills rocks and brairs. Locked. Gated. Ten miles soutwest of Cauksville. Deer 140 and up. One bear killed per year and Cougar. 2008 there were 14 bucks harvested. That should explain what its like. Its a wild place. |

| February 23, 2010 @ 9:15am | Gorman, It seems you break, blow up or wound your TH400 or the big block motor every couple of years. What's the deal, is it you, the tech or the equipment?
Deveo might be right. Tow it to the race site and see if you can write it off on your taxes as a charitable deduction.

| Towing | February 23, 2010 @ 5:04pm | My towing bill was $250.00. for 36 miles. Just paid to have the cruise and abs fixed on Dodge, less than a week ago. Thursday I am getting the cruise and abs fixed on the Dodge. Can these hillbillies not fix anything? |

| February 23, 2010 @ 11:13pm | Gorman, Sorry to hear about all that RV trouble. When it rains it pours I guess. I think the problem is spelled "D o d g e". But that's better than owning a boat, no boat holds up even as well as a Dodge. Divers are comming tomorrow to see what's crunching under this boat I got on today.
Jeffro, If you would get me an email addy I'd send you some maps of the property and trails. The land is awesome! 1500 acres I think. We're using about 500 of it for this first race. Are you going to be home for the race? You need to come trim trail. Call Zach about his kickstarter. He can't ride unless he has one of those, and you have it. |

| March 8, 2010 @ 10:11pm | Holy crap Jimbo! I completely forgot about Zach's kickstarter. I feel like such a butthead. Too many concussions, or too many 2 stroke fumes. Snakes in my haid. My email is gastonjeff@rocketmail.com. My # is 912-996-5543. Tell me how I can send money to Zach, or buy him a new kicker and mail it, or whatever he wants and I'll do it. I just plain forgot. It's back home in Ar and I'm still in Ga. Might be here a while longer.
My bicep tore off the bone the other day. After an MRI they found my Rotator Cuff torn in 3 places as well. Then after some stomach problems they found a serious bacterial infection that can cause cancer, a Hiatal Hernia, and scar tissue on my stomach diaphraghm, or however you spell that word. I'm on some heavy antibiotics that are making me sick as a dog. My left shoulder hurts worse than the torn up one so it's probably torn up too. Long story, don't know how much longer I'll be here. I'm sick of surgery, I think I'm just gonna suck it up and opt for getting out now and not having any of it fixed. This place is driving me up the wall. |
