River Valley Dirt Riders

Club meeting 5 December 2006

The River Valley Dirt Riders December meeting was called to order at 7:00. Members present:

Cary McVay

Jeremy Estes

Shannon Estes

Dingo

Mason Smith

Vernon and Skyler Church

Gorman Smith

Pete Petrick

Doug Rogers

- plus about four others I forgot to write down.

Three new members have joined since the last meeting; Mason Smith, Doug Rogers and Charlie Sparks. Shannon Estes is designing a business card for the club. When completed, the cards will be given out to members for use in promoting the club (I hope). We are also look for a club motto, so if you have any ideas email me and we’ll see we’ll have a look at it.

The Arkansas Hare Scramble Championship Series had their Promoters meeting in November and did the usual hashing out of the rules & race schedule for the 2007 season. Several new races were put on the schedule including some motorcycle only and ATV only events. The AHSCS officers (yeah, I’m the PREZ of that too) wanted to keep the class changes to a minimum so don’t expect much difference in AHSCS classes. You can read up on it here: http://ahscs.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4591

Mark your calendar. The next “Old Crow” race is scheduled for the 24-25 of February. As usual, ATV’s will run on Saturday and bikes run Sunday. We will need lots of help before and during the race so be nice and help out this February.

The Nebo trail land hasn't been worked on since Tim Carr and David Barclay marked it several months ago. So I, your fearless leader, have gone out to Nebo for the last two weekends to cut trail. I didn't spend a whole lot of time out there but I did go out there. Tim donated a Shindaiwa leaf blower to help with the trail clearing. It should cut down on the trail break-in time. The blower is a backpack style unit and will easily clear leaves, sticks, squirrels, small rocks and children under the age of seven. It (the blower) almost takes the ritual out of trail break in riding.

Our web site (www.rvdrs.com) has been getting a lot of hits. We finally have the capability to post video on the site. This will draw people to visit our site and help make our club world famous.

Several club members went to the Last Man Standing race down in Bulcher Texas. The weather was a little cool but the race was good. Chris White used the clubs video camera to capture some of the action and we hope to post the edited version on the web site soon.

If you note we have the Flying J “Gas Cards” on the expense list. These were to help out on gas expense for the club members going to the Last Man Standing race. Anyway, right now the club has about $9200.00 in the bank. Many club members have expressed the need for the club to get promotional items for the members in the way of club shirts and jackets, so if anyone wants that project just raise your hand!
