Better watch that camp boy talk. Jeff has been in the desert for a LONG time! Big Grin

Turns out I have a 4 day weekend, so will most likely show up early Thurs. I'm not real interested in any night riding, though. I have a much better headlight on my bike now, but dark times are what beer and campfires are for. Smile

I'm going to try to be ready to ride by noon on Tuesday. I'd like to work on a new trail Tuesday afternoon if anyone is interested in helping.
Bring loppers.

My old knee injury has reared it's ugly head so I hope I'm not reduced to "camp boy" and techical support.

jeffro, We'll discuss the possibility of a night ride when we are all there Wednesday evening. The BC to Hag route is about 3X tougher than it was a year ago before all the rains. A night ride might not be the best thing to do. There are other fun alternate trails.

Mike, We are usually trying to get ready to ride by 9am and get started about 10. Be there by 9 to be safe. We'll be at the campground.

Race will start about noonish. When everyone gets signed up, and they get them split into teams they will have a draw for partners. Race will start soon after. You are welcome to come up the night before and join the New Years festivity. A local distributer donates plenty of adult beverage for after the race. There is always some good food as well.

8th Annual Almosta RaceDecember 27, 2008 @ 7:41pm
The 8th Annual Almosta Race will be held, once again, at Wildcat Ranch in Decatur, AR., on New Year's Day. For those of you who are not familiar, it's a two person team race. You must be able to ride Jr. Long in AHSCS to participate. This is a benefit race, and the proceeds this year will go to help Ike and Pam Weston. There will be a silent auction that will start New Year's Eve. There's lots of room to camp. We will have a pot luck on New Year's Eve and cook hamburgers and hot dogs. There will be pots of soup and chili for after the race. Don't bring your partner, we have one for you. We partner up AA and A riders with B and C riders through a lottery. We think this usually makes a pretty level playing field, so there's no need for classes. You may be partnered with someone you know well, or you may be partnered with someone you have never met and make a friend for life. Our trophies are always homemade, and most coveted. I know I am a little late getting out the invitation, but if you haven't made plans, or if you can change your plans, I promise you a great place to ride, and there's no better way to bring in the New Year.

I know most of you guys will be a Brock, but if anybody can't get to Brock we NW Arkies would like to invite you up for the Almosta Race. I'm sure some of you have been before it's always a great time.

Here is a GPS track of the loop. It turned out about 6 miles

I hope you guys have a fun and safe ride at Brock. If you only have the one day to ride we would love to have you at the Almosta Race.

I'll go for the night ride, but not all dirt roads. Where's the fun in that? Lets do the same route we always do, but at night? I sure won't be fast though, my vision is terrible. I'm getting a Cataract fixed soon.

Devro, buy some wood for me since I will be in my van, can't haul it, I will pay you back.

I plan on staying until at least Saturday night, maybe even Sunday. Anyone have a spare bike Chris White can ride? If I can get my KLR fixed and ready he can ride my DRZ but I only have a tall seat for it and it is too tall for Chris. He can ride it but has a little trouble in the gnarly stuff.
