| Waterproofing and such | October 26, 2006 @ 7:44pm | If the plug cap gets really wet, it will sputter and sometimes die. If it does, it won't restart until you dry it out. You can pack it with waterproof grease, or spray silicone spray inside the boot, and on the plug, then pack it with silicone caulk, then slide it on. The silicone spray will keep the caulk from permanantly sticking to the cap and plug. (Elmer Symons trick).
It is almost impossible to get the plug boot off and on on KTMs. You can trim the bottom 1/4 of the boot to get clearance to do a plug change without removing the tank. If you do this mod, you MUST use grease or something to waterproof the cap, since it lets more water around the plug. |

| March 14, 2007 @ 4:40pm | | Jeff, Ive cut my plug boot down and am not using any sealant and have had no problems what-so-ever with water hitting the plug. Ive been on several muddy, very wet rides, since cutting the boot. |
