Dirt Heads:

Pete found a cool tool in his latest (December) Cycle World magazine pg. 97. It's called a Motorcycle Tire Spreader. The Spreader is sold by Snap On tools (p/n TSP813)and of course it's expensive at $41.25 but it looks like something JGAS or Devero could make themselves.

Go to:

http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?search=true&item_ID=76279&PartNo=tsp813&group_id=1642&supersede=&store=snapon-store&tool=all

OK, but when I mount a tire the rim lock is already in the wheel, the tube is in the tire and the valve stem goes in it's little hole first before the tire goes on.
Is there another way to do it?

Pete, you can't have one until it is produced by KTM or BMW. It will then cost $141!
