| Devro-Fall Colors Tour. | October 13, 2008 @ 4:38pm | Jimbo, go to www.advrider.com to check your PMs. Thumper DRZ, I think his name is Gary? he rode with us some last year, He has a question for you. He wants to ride with you and Barclay, and has some former Enduro guys who want to ride your trails.
You guys who ain't Dual Sportin yet, this is a good chance to do it. You'll see more of Ouachita and Ozark beauty and ride more trail miles than you could imagine. Some will be medium fast, some will be slow, but you will have fun and for sure, you will eat good! These guys spare no expense on eating. They find the best spots on the trail and plan the ride around a good place to get vittles.
If you don't think it can be a challenge, just ask Devro and Barclay which was harder: The White Rock Enduro, or the last DS ride we did. |

| fall colors | October 13, 2008 @ 8:31pm | I sure hate to miss riding with you on this ride. I had previously planned to work on the sleds, mostly just start and run plus charge the batteries. There is also the bear and elk that need to be hunted. Snow is in the forecast for the weekend and since I start at 11400 and go up I can expect snow every day. When are you coming home Jgas? |

| October 18, 2008 @ 2:48am | You better come on home and warm up gramps! Too friggin cold out there. I got "fender bunny" pegs on the DRZ, I'll ride ya around (if ya don't go bi*ching about my driving that is!!!)
jefro's afraid to tell us when he's coming home because when he does I'm gonna shoot his butt for writing a bunch of "stuff" (to say it nicely) about me on the ADV web page!
Why don't you invite me 'n Sindy over for Elk steak? I could use a good road trip this January or so. |

Devro, I want pics posted of FCT on this site, and advrider. Preferrably with you, Barclay, and all the other guys throwing the advrider salute. That will make me laugh. Put it on ktmtalk too. |

Live to ride another day.
Thursday is BC. (taking virgins, Terry and Roger ) Friday is Mt Magazine and Huckelberry trails. Saturday is Whiterock and Cass. Sunday????
I'm sure I'll take pictures. I'm not sure how to post them anywhere. But I can put them on a "picture web page" and send you the link. I'm sure Terry will be taking pictures and videos and making some sort of movie.
By the way, I have a show, hours long, that Terry made of the April Fools ride. It of course has the rat-bike being towed out of the woods! I have a copy for you. Get it to you when you get home.
Do you have an emial addy yet? How about a mailing addy I can send you something?
Always good to hear from you, keep posting.
Christmas huh, well I'll have a bottle of Christmass waiting for you. Gonna make the New Years ride?
Keep your head down, FYYFF, devro |

| October 29, 2008 @ 8:11pm | Hey Jeff, I rode with Randy from Nebraska who camped with us last year. He towed his xr650r down behind his goldwing again. He got there early and got the same campspot we had in 07. He bought a bunch of wood and I brought some too, about half of mine was osage orange. Friday he had some bike trouble so we didn't hook up with the group until after the lunch stop. We followed the "B" group but with us it made 8, kinda like a slinky and too much stopping. Saturday we started out with a group from the motel parking lot. It wasn't long before Devro's group caught up to us and when Roger went by the on the 2 smoker the fumes drew me right along. We rode with them until Turner Bend, then went on while they went into Mill Creek. We weren't too far from 23 when I ran into my buddy Lee from KC and his friend who were camping at mulberry mtn. I took them down to wellcave but found a deep hole in a a water crossing and drowned the Husky out. I wasn't planning on deep water and didn't have the airbox taped up. All of us worked on it, we had to pull the gas tank part way off to get the plug out. Devro caught up to us and was heading on for more water and we bailed where I did this spring. Lee's friend's bike was getting hot climbing and started making noise, he checked and found he was low on oil. Me, Lee and Randy made a banzai run to Oark to get oil. Their gps said it was 11 miles as the crow flies, but I think it was more like thirty the way we went. We were about ready to head back when Lee's buddy pulled up, said it sounded better after cooling off a bit. I treated them all to burgers and pie for helping me get my drowned bike going again. There's a cute little blonde gal working in there now, pretty young but a nice rack. I tried not to stare. We figured we'd better go see Catalpa since we were close. Lee and Chuck headed back to mulberry and Randy and I wound around by Ozone and back to Spadra the long way. You missed a good time, hope you can get back home soon. Next year's ADV SLAP rally is going to be the end of May at whiterockmountain.com. Take care, Dean |

| November 9, 2008 @ 6:41am | Great account,Dean. I guess the Husky is working well for you? No bike runs too good with water in it ya know. Just thought I'd let you in on that little secret.
FCT 08 sounds like it was great as usual. Think about coming back to BC for the WUDI ride. I will probably make SLAP in May if it is at White Rock. What is SLAP like anyway? Similar to FCT? Off and on road loops? All I know is it's bigger. |

I think something like FCT, but lots of folks riding in from all over. At SLAP 07 in N. Missouri I met a gal who had ridden from California. The guy putting it on is going to have morning and evening meals provided, beer and camp spot or cabin space. Hard to tell how many will haul in like me, half? Everybody has a good time, riding then maybe a little partying. |

| November 13, 2008 @ 11:27pm | deano, Who knows where the heck jeffro is. Maybe he's been captured. If so I sure feel sorry for those rag-heads and I'm sure they will return him in short order.
Is the SLAP an off-road biased ride or is it more on-road?
I wouldn't mind putting it on my '09 calendar too.

| November 14, 2008 @ 7:18pm | Hi Jim, I think most of the folks who ride in won't be game for anything too gnarly. As far as I know organized rides are undecided. The guy putting it on knows his way around the area and has posted pics from riding with his sons that looked pretty tough. He's got a cabin on the white river he rents out.

Here's the offical SLAP rally thread.

You ever seen the camp area? It was built by the CCC, found it on mapsource 7.7 miles west of Cass and north of Shores Lake.

I didn't know there was that many guys up at your buddy's rig. By the time we ran to town and ate, got a fire going and a cocktail in hand I was pretty content.

| November 18, 2008 @ 5:45pm | I have a T shirt that you advrider guys will love. Can't wait to wear it. Moms will just have to cover the kids eyes.
I am checking out the pics after this post. I WILL make the NYD ride. I'll be there. None of my bikes has been started in months, and I won't have much time to get them fixed up, but I'll be there. The KLR is kaput, needs sprockets and chain. I think the DRZ is ok. The KTM is headed for the Supermoto track unless I change my mind or gain some sense. We know that ain't gonna happen.
Can't wait for the NYD ride! |

| November 20, 2008 @ 6:30am | Hey jeffro!, Glad you finally got to get on line and I hope you found your pictures. Beleive me we were all yelling the Salute (can't write it on this web page) when the camera was going off.
Hey, can't you sell some stuff on the black market over there? Enough to buy a new bike? At a campfire discussion at an ADV ride we all decidied an XR650 is just perfect for you.
Maybe you ought to let me go get the DRZ and drop it off at Dougs so he can go over it and get it ready to ride. Let me know and I'll go get it.
I found an uncut Everett trail at BC yesterday and started to cut it in. It's in Moccassin Hollow.
Send a mailing address to devrodirt@hotmail.com I have something to send to you.
later, devro |
