Vintage Race Work Weekends 8-23/24 & 8-30/31July 13, 2008 @ 10:25pm
I would like to schedule two club work weekends out at OC for the Vintage race.

August 23, 24
August 30/31

Cary, can you have the fields mowed by 8-23?

Bring with you:
trail trimming tools.
shovels.
post drivers.
riding lawn mower.
weed eater.
staplers.
bike.
ATV.
boots 'n gloves.
and all the other stuff you might need.

I will try to have all the supplies from Pete's shed out there by 10am on the 23rd.

Guaranteed to be HOT!

I'm unreliable on the phone, call 479-293-4302 and leave a message; best to email me at: devrodirt@hotmail.com

It seems that the plan may have changed a little far as the work that will be needed to get the race course complete. I know i said there will be no trimming needed for this race. After talking to Jim this is was the plan. Ive talked to a few people who has been at the race sight. They told me much of the course is grown up with face slappers. Oh well thats just less triming we will have to do next spring. Jim i talked to Zac today. He said you was at the sight. What kind of work are we needing to do on these scheduled work days. I know we have to get a grass track set up. Does the trails need much triming? Did you mark any trail today?

Douglas (and the rest),
The trails need a LOT of trimming. It is amazing how they have grown up.
A lot of the trimming is just high grass and can be done with a weed eater (I think).
Also there are several large trees down over trails that need to be chain sawed.

The center road needs to be trimmed as this is part of the course - if someone wants to get a start on thatBig Grin. Sorry but the back end of that road which I trimmed for the last ATV Hare Scrambles is not being used for the vintage race. The section from the small field to the end needs it Crying

I did not mark much of the trail. I hope to get more marked this Saturday.

We can't start on the field until it is mowed: lots of rain = lots of grass.
If a mower gets in there be careful with the end near the gas line, it's pretty wet and soft.

The culvert at the gate is washed out some, needs a couple strong backs with shovels or a load of gravel.

I'm using the creek crossing that you used on the kids course and it needs a little cleaning up. I figure if an 8 year old on a 60 can cross there a 60 year old on a 40 year old bike has a chance of making it Shocked.
